“Why do I feel so guilty for taking care of myself?
💬 𝐀: Very simple — and it’s not your fault.
You were raised to prioritize others at the expense of yourself.
Read that again — at the expense of yourself.
That’s not the same as caring for others alongside yourself.
It means giving up your needs, desires, preferences, and happiness for someone else.
This pattern started in childhood.
Take a look back — were your caretakers emotionally unstable?
Did you walk on eggshells?
Were you guilt-tripped into keeping the peace, or punished for resting?
So, lets move on to how to fix this.
Guilt around self-care means you were taught you’re not important enough to prioritize — while others were.
So your job now is to rewrite that pattern and start putting yourself first.
When you finish reading this — you. are. done.
Discover your values and needs.
Verbalize them.
Expect them.
And say “no” when people ask more than they give.
Guilt is the feeling you’ve done something wrong.
So if you want to stop feeling guilty for caring for yourself, normalize it.
