“How do you know if you’re settling or just being realistic?”
Those are two very different feeling signatures.
Settling feels like you’re shrinking — becoming smaller, quieter, softer.
→ It carries the weight of defeat.
Whereas being realistic has an undertone of optimism.
→ You see things clearly, but there’s still a sense of movement, of possibility.
It may not feel good, but it doesn’t feel dead.
You’re only settling if you know you deserve more, but refuse to admit it to yourself.
